The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, live awards show from 8 to 10pm on TBS and TNT

– The only televised awards shows to exclusively honor performers for acting in television and films, the SAG Awards are a better predictor of the Oscars than the Golden Globes. “Lincoln,” “Les Miserables,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Argo,” and “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” duke it out for SAG’s version of best picture: outstanding performance by a cast. Showtime’s hit sophomore series Homeland will most likely continue their hot winning streak and clench the win for best performance by an ensemble in a drama series up against veterans Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, and Downton Abbey. (Meanwhile the Game Of Thrones snubs this awards season just keep on coming, for shame…) You gotta have respect when Maggie Smith nominated for both her individual and ensemble performances in Downton Abbey and “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” beat out every human being holding a SAG card with four nominations. Modern Family leads the nominations among the TV categories with four nods.

Dallas, 2-hour season premiere at 9pm on TNT

– TNT’s hit reboot of the long-running primetime soap of the same name returns for its highly anticipated sophomore season with many looking at how the show will handle the passing of actor Larry Hagman, star of the original Dallas, who played ruthless oil tycoon J.R. Ewing. Dallas centers on the Ewing clan, an enormously wealthy Texas family whose sibling rivalries, romantic betrayals, corruption and even murder are truly legendary. The exciting drama brings back three iconic stars from the original Dallas: Patrick Duffy as Bobby Ewing, Linda Gray as Sue Ellen Ewing and Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing. They are joined by the next generation of Ewings, who take ambition and deception to a new level. Josh Henderson is John Ross, the son of J.R. and Sue Ellen Ewing, while Jesse Metcalfe is Christopher, Bobby’s adopted son. Jordana Brewster also stars as Elena Ramos, John Ross’ girlfriend and Christopher’s former fiancee, while Julie Gonzalo is Rebecca Sutter, Christopher’s wife. Brenda Strong stars as Bobby’s wife, Ann. In the season finale, John Ross turned to the dark side, aka his father, to start scheming to cheat Christopher and Elena out of their new energy company after Elena declined his marriage proposal and chose Christopher. This season, three new series regulars will join the cast. Mitch Pileggi, who guest-starred in the first season, plays Harris Ryland, Ann’s manipulative and cunning ex-husband. Emma Bell is Emma Brown, a sheltered beauty whose father has taught her to distrust the world around her. And Kuno Becker is Drew Ramos, Elena’s troubled brother who returns to Southfork to continue drilling on his father’s land.

Southie Rules, series premiere at 10pm on A&E

– The network known for bringing you Hoarders ventures away from dark docu-series and into regular reality series about people looking for their 15 minutes of fame. Southie Rule follows a proud native South Boston family that is battling the relentless gentrification of their neighborhood that’s been overrun with yuppies, sushi restaurants and $5 cups of coffee. This family is one of the few remaining multi-generational Southie clans all living under the same roof of a triple-decker (three-level home). The top floor houses Camille, the family’s matriarch and her ex-husband Walter, both of whom still sleep in the same bed. Down the hall is their youngest son Matt, his girlfriend Jenn and their one-year old, Liana. Matt works part-time at the family’s tattoo shop, but stay-at-home mom Jenn insists he find a real career. On the middle floor is Jon, the eldest son who manages the family’s tattoo shop. Over the past year, Jon has been relegated to the smallest room in the house since Matt became a father. Just a foot away, in the living room, is Matt’s best friend, Devin, the house’s lovable mooch who sleeps on the family couch most nights. Keeping the family together on the ground floor is Leah, her husband Jarod, and their toddler, Abby. Leah is a housewife with loud opinions, unlike Jarrod, who is much more domestic than his rambunctious wife. Together, this highly entertaining family preserves the Southie way of life and the age-old traditions that come with it.

The Americans, series premiere at 10pm on FX

– FX’s intriguing new spy series (no doubt building off the Homeland momentum) is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C. shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President. The arranged marriage of Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell), who have two children – 13-year-old Paige (Holly Taylor) and 10-year-old Henry (Keidrich Sellati), who know nothing about their parents’ true identity – grows more passionate and genuine by the day, but is constantly tested by the escalation of the Cold War and the intimate, dangerous and darkly funny relationships they must maintain with a network of spies and informants under their control. Complicating their relationship further is Philip’s growing sense of affinity for America’s values and way of life. Tensions also heighten upon the arrival of a new neighbor, Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich), an FBI agent. Stan and his partner, Agent Chris Amador (Maximiliano Hernández), are members of a new division of Counterintelligence tasked with fighting against foreign agents on U.S. soil, including KGB Directorate S illegals, Russian spies posing as Americans.

Do No Harm, series premiere at 10pm on NBC

– First of all, let’s applaud NBC’s programming execs for moving Rock Center With Brian Williams to Fridays so we can get an additional hour of quality scripted television on Thursday! Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale, Rescue Me) is a highly respected neurosurgeon who has it all – a lucrative career, confident charm and the gift of compassion. But he also has a deep, dark secret. One morning, after waking up disoriented in a wrecked hotel room amidst near-naked women he’s never seen before, he knows one thing: it happened again. Every night at the same hour, something inside Jason changes, leaving him almost unrecognizable – seductive, devious, borderline sociopathic. This new man is his dangerous alternate personality, who goes by the name Ian Price. For years Jason has battled Ian, keeping him in check with a powerful experimental sedative. But now his – their – body has developed a resistance to the serum, setting Ian free once again. And to make matters worse, after being suppressed for so long, Ian is hell-bent on taking revenge on his oppressor. With everyone Jason cares about at risk – patients, friends, coworkers and even the woman he loves – he must stop Ian once and for all. Will they find some common ground, or will they bring each other down? Hell hath no fury like an alter ego scorned.
