The American Music Awards, special awards show from 8 to 11pm on ABC

– The prizes are perfunctory (they’re being decided via fan voting this year), and Adele, who leads all artists with four nominations, won’t be able to be there (she’s been sidelined due to vocal-cord surgery). But no matter. Tonight’s show is all about the veritable murderers’ row on the performance docket, which includes Justin Bieber (stay out of the bathroom, buddy!), Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, LMFAO, Marc Anthony, and Chris Brown. And get ready for some elaborate productions to inspire viewers to fill their stockings with some of these artists’ new holiday-season releases. Even if no one trips in seven-inch stilettos, there should still be plenty of What was she wearing? moments to tweet about.

You Deserve It, series premiere at 9pm on ABC (following the season finale of DWTS)

– From the producers of Deal or No Deal and Secret Millionaire comes a new, heartfelt game show that’s perfect for the holiday season. You Deserve It is a six-episode unscripted series in which contestants are playing to win money for someone else – someone they feel deserves it because of difficult circumstances in their life. In this trivia-based game, host Chris Harrison (The Bachelor) guides contestants as they play several rounds trying to guess a person, place or thing with as few clues as possible. Starting with a $ 10,000 round and going up to a $250,000 round, contestants purchase a series of clues to help them solve the puzzles and win money for their chosen beneficiary. But each clue will cost them – and the cost of each clue is randomly selected and won’t be revealed until after it has been purchased. The more money spent on clues, the less money there is to win – so guessing with as few clues as possible, means more money to give away to someone who deserves it. One wrong answer, however, and that round is over. The beneficiary, who is in another location and unaware that the contestant is playing on their behalf, is under constant hidden-camera surveillance throughout the show. Watch as the beneficiary gets the surprise of a lifetime when family, friends, co-host Brooke Burns and a camera crew burst in with life-changing news.
