Hoarding: Buried Alive, season premiere at 9pm on TLC

– Don’t confuse this TLC series with A&E’s similarly titled hit docuseries Hoarders; the former differs primarily from the latter in that it shifts the focus of the series more towards how the family of the hoarders is negatively affected by their obsession. Hoarding goes inside the homes of extreme hoarders to explore the psychology behind their compulsion to accumulate & store large quantities of nonessential things. Each episode tells the stories of hoarders struggling with behavior that has made every day existence unbearable for both them & their loved ones. With the help of expert therapists & organizers, the hoarders will attempt to unlock the key to their obsessions in hope of reclaiming their lives.

Teen Choice Awards 2010, 2-hour awards special at 8pm on FOX

– California gurl at the center of the heated controversy with pop queen Lady Gaga, Katy Perry herself, will host alongside the men of Glee. Because teens vote, this is basically going to be a “Twilight” lovefest with the cast receiving 15+ nominations. Twilight’s werewolf Taylor Lautner and vampire Robert Pattinson will battle it out with Jake Gyllenhal (who blew me away with his ridiculously beautiful abs in “Prince of Persia: The Abs of Jake”) in the Choice Movie Actor: Fantasy category. All this “Twilight” love is disgusting, it pains me to even have to mention it in this blog entry so I must stop.

Bachelor Pad, series premiere at 8pm on ABC

– Chris Harrison and The Bachelor breakout star Melissa Rycroft host this spin-off of The Bachelor. Nineteen unforgettable and very attractive former contestants from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette come together and live in a house to get a second chance at finding love. Each episode will feature the contestants competing in a challenge and conclude with evictions from the house. One person will eventually emerge as the victor and win a cash prize, and possibly true love. It’s all the drama from The Bachelor sans all the gooey crap about trying to find a soul mate and more about good-old hooking up. If you saw this last season of The Bachelorette starring Ali, then you saw the hilarious confrontation between the weatherman and the “dangerous” Craig. Well, those enemies are back to provide some amazing entertainment at the weatherman’s expense. Gia and Tenley from Jake’s season are also back and very grateful they didn’t make it to #1 in Jake’s heart after the disastrous break-up with Vienna that revealed Jake as the devil.

Dating in the Dark, season premiere at 10pm on ABC

– Each week three single guys and three unattached ladies move into a house uniquely looking for love. Everyone is sequestered from the opposite sex until they are introduced in a ridiculously dark room. Yes, it’s the ultimate blind date! Looks are taken out of the equation as guys and girls get to know each other in total darkness. After a few sight-unseen dates, the participants pick someone they’d like to meet with the lights on. That’s when they finally get to see just who it is they’ve been wooing and kissing. Is love truly blind or will these daters be scared away by the light of day? It’s quite mean but highly amusing.
