Wow, its a week of exciting season finales and very few premieres and specials. TLC does not fail to continue exploiting families with the return of the reality show 19 Kids & Counting about the conservative Christian family who have recently been in the gossip magazines because of their controversial religious decision to not practice birth control or abstinence. They are criticized not only for birthing so many children, but also because this decision is increasingly endangering the health of the fetuses conceived as the matriarch gets older, which has shown to be the case with the 19th child who was born prematurely and had to remain in the intensive care unit for months. Other premieres among the limited selection include Mark Anstice and Ben Protheroe’s new Travel Channel show Secrets Of The Tribe set on location in Africa, the hit BBC America comedy Gavin & Stacey and The Black Eyed Peas: The E.N.D. World Tour 2010 Concert, the televised special of the hit hip-pop group performing their big hits of the past year.

19 Kids & Counting: Josie Comes Home, special episode at 8pm on TLC
– The reality series follows the Duggar family of Tontitown, Arkansas, a conservative Christian family with 19 children. The parents refrain from using birth control, believing that God should determine the number of children they have, therefore resulting in a pregnancy every year and a half. Formerly 18 Kids & Counting, the show was renamed after Michelle gave birth to her 19th child, Josie Brooklyn Duggar, three months prematurely in December of 2009. After four months of uncertainty and challenges, Josie is finally released from the hospital and reunited with the rest of the Duggar family.
Secrets Of The Tribe, series premiere with back-to-back episodes at 9pm on Travel Channel
– Explorer Mark Anstice (from Discovery Channel’s World’s Lost Tribes) and language and religion expert Ben Protheroe travel to Benin, West Africa to immerse themselves in the culture of local tribes. In each episode, they experience a different tradition.
Gavin & Stacey, season premiere at 9pm on BBC America
– The third season of the hit BBC America comedy starts with the happy couple moving to Stacey’s native Wales for Gavin’s job, which means big changes for the whole family. Gavin’s parents, Pam and Mick have to adjust to an empty nest while Stacey’s mom, Gwen, has a full house again.
